What is Run Buddy?+
Run Buddy is a free GPS running companion built into RunMate for Filipino runners. It tracks your distance and pace in real time and plays motivational voice cues through your earphones as you run — no separate app download needed.
Is Run Buddy free to use?+
Yes. Run Buddy is free for all RunMate users. RunMate Pro members get early access to new personalities before they're released to everyone.
Does Run Buddy work without internet?+
Run Buddy uses your device's GPS, which works without an internet connection. However, you'll need internet to load the page initially and to log your run afterwards. Once the page is loaded, your run can continue without signal.
How accurate is Run Buddy GPS tracking?+
Run Buddy uses the Haversine formula with an 8-point rolling average to calculate distance and pace — the same method used by dedicated GPS running watches. Accuracy depends on your device's GPS hardware and how clear the sky is. Works best outdoors away from tall buildings.
What Run Buddy personalities are available?+
Currently available: Hype Girl (high-energy female hype) and The Crush (motivational and encouraging). More personalities are in development — including Lolo, Hype Beast, and The Roaster. Pro users get early access when new ones launch.
Does Run Buddy work on iPhone and Android?+
Run Buddy works on any modern mobile browser — iPhone Safari, Android Chrome, or desktop. No app download required. Just open runmateapp.com/run-buddy, allow location access, and start running.
